英国交通大臣海蒂·亚历山大宣布，英国高铁 2 号线（HS2）的造价将飙升至 877 亿至 1027 亿英镑，且最快要到 2036 年才能开通。为了削减成本，列车的设计时速也将从 360 公里降至 320 公里，且线路已缩减为仅连接伦敦与伯明翰。
The UK's High Speed 2 rail project is now expected to cost up to £102.7 billion and will not open until 2036 at the earliest. To cut costs, train speeds will be reduced to 320 km/h, and the line will only run between London and Birmingham following previous route cuts.
